As we come to the end of this whirlwind election campaign I want to thank everyone who has devoted huge mounts of time and effort to helping me try and represent the people of Toton and Chilwell Meadows.
As somebody who grew up in the area it has been great to wander around my old stomping ground, as well as some of the newer estates and to chat to local people about the things that matter to all of us. No matter what happens on Thursday I will still be around and if I can’t personally act on the things you have told me I will pass them on to whomever you finally chose as your representative, as well as to my Labour colleagues on the council.
This is the first time I have stood for any type of seat and it has been an interesting and largely positive experience. I am very much an open and honest person and I try hard to do all I can to make a difference wherever I can in life. I avoid negativity and that is the way I have attempted to conduct myself throughout. That said, there are times when I find I have to stand up for myself and others and to be assertive.
So in an effort to somewhat set things straight here are a few important truths that need to be said at this stage.
Lisa Clarke – your candidate for Toton & Chilwell Meadows
Vote for openness and honesty on Thursday 18th February. Vote for Lisa.
The above go some way to getting things straight but what I want to be clear about most of all is the hard work and integrity of my Labour party colleagues, most of whom have been in office for some years now and who work tirelessly and volunteer because they, like me, want to make a difference.
- To create a world, on a local and national scale, with greater equality.
- To work towards a society that benefits all rather than a small elite.
In every respect my life has been about caring for and standing up for ordinary people, for all people and that is all I sought to do for the people of Toton and Chilwell Meadows.
Thanks again to those who listened to me and took me on my word and thanks if you have or intend to vote for me on Thursday.
Oh and one last thing…..it appears to have been suggested that the labour candidates are extremist lefties of some sort. If you feel that any of the values I have presented here fit that label then perhaps I could be persuaded to wear it. Until then however I will add this title to the one given me as an anti Page 3 campaigner by the international media owner and multi-billionaire Rupert Murdoch who called ME “elitist”. It will be in the file marked “blatantly daft personal attacks people have used when they have nothing else to say”.
I’ll be at the Meet & Greet on Tuesday 16th and I’ll be doing the rounds at the polls on Thursday, hope to see some of you there.
