As the Council faces more cuts, residents of Broxtowe are being consulted on your views on the future of Beeston Town Hall. The consultation has asked about three options: a) Retain the building; b) Sell the Town Hall for residential purposes but retain the external features of the 1938 building; or c) Demolish the Town Hall and sell the land for housing saving of £100,000 a year. The Civic Society is campaigning against closure and has already collected nearly 2,000 signatures: this means the issue will be debated at the Council Meeting on 31 January at 7.00pm. This proposal has raised considerable public interest, with alternative proposals from several other groups. You are welcome to attend this meeting.
